CHADIS Child Health & Development Interactive System

“CHADIS is the best example of what the future of pediatrics should look like.”
Dr. Neal Halfon, Professor, UCLA, invited address: “The Future of General Pediatrics” at National Pediatric Academic Societies, May, 2006
CHADIS is a web-based screening, diagnostic and management system that administers and analyzes pre-visit, online questionnaires completed by parents, teens or teachers and provides Clinicians with instant access to valuable clinical data and resources. Through its process, CHADIS improves the diagnosis and management of health, emotional and behavioral issues, helping Clinicians address parents’ concerns about their child’s development while streamlining other routines of Pediatric care.

There is increased recognition within the Pediatric community that early diagnosis and treatment of health, developmental and behavioral issues in children and adolescents is extremely beneficial in successfully dealing with them. Many organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, now recommend using pre-visit screening tools to assist with early identification.

CHADIS was designed with both the practice and families in mind by two highly-respected, experienced Pediatricians working with a team of technical, research and support specialists. The program was devised to be easy to utilize in day-to-day operations of a practice while achieving the ultimate goal of helping Clinicians provide better care and support to patients and families.
Why Do Screening?
  • Regular screening helps assess if children are developing on schedule, and helps identity issues early, even before some outward signs are present
  • Early diagnosis and treatment of health, developmental and behavioral issues is essential to successfully dealing with them
  • Screening has proven to show very high identification rates in those children with mental health or developmental disabilities
  • American Academy of Pediatric (AAP) recommends routine standardized developmental and behavioral screening for all children
  • Medicaid EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment) requires screening for developmental and mental health status
  • A growing number of states are now requiring certain levels of screening at all well-child visits and this trend is expected to continue in the coming years
How does CHADIS work?
  1. CHADIS delivers the doctor's pre-selected questionnaires and families complete them online at home or in the waiting room
  2. CHADIS collects all the answers, and automatically scores and tabulates them in an user-friendly electronic worksheet
  3. CHADIS presents provisional diagnoses and links to decision-support information based on the responses
  4. CHADIS selects informational handouts and community resources specific to the child and family needs
  5. CHADIS captures additional Clinician comments and information during the office visit
  6. CHADIS stores all visit data, creating a full record that can be copied into EMRs for referrals, billing, positive screen registry and patient diagnoses tracking
